I have a customer that uses Excel 2007 and finds that this file is locked once they save it. The user does not
know what makes this file locked. I unlock the excel 2007 spreadsheet by following the directions located in the following url:http://uknowit.uwgb.edu/page.php?id=28850 and give the file back to the user unlocked. The user makes her additions to the spreadsheet and saves the file. When the file is saved on her workstation, it
becomes locked again.
I do want to mention the following facts:
1. No one intentionally gave this file a password it just became locked.
2. The user will hide lots of columns since she does not need to see them. This user gave us the
file with hidden columns since it was easier for her.
3. This excel file is loaded into an SSIS package at this company.
4. We keep going through this cycle on a monthly basis and I would like to improve this cycle.
Thus my questions are:
1. Do you have any idea what could be causing the excel 2007 to becomne locked? Is it the hidden columns?
2. I would like to keep the file unlocked. From what I have seen on the internet, the only way to keep the file
unlocked is you have to know what the original passowrd is. Since I do not know what the original password is,
can you tell me how to keep the file unlocked?
