PowerPivot in Excel 2016 Data Model Lost -- Empty

I am facing a most frustrating error with Excel 2016. Random loss of the data model. It happens most frequently if you open more then one instance of Excel. I make constant backups as I go but tonight even the most recent backup did not have the data model and this time I was working on a single file. What is going on? I never once lost the data model in 2013.

Hours of work is lost by this bug! Does anyone have a fix?

Hello all,

I am going to ask a similar question to one that I made last week, but it is just similar.

In image 1 you can see a little bit of sheet1. In this sheet you can see all the items in "REF.SAP" that don`t have stock (in Red) 

All the those items that don`t have stock go to sheet2 as you can see in image 2.

My problem is, when I insert a new number in sheet1 for example, under 20255, in sheet2 this new number is going to be inserted under 20255 but the rest of the information in the line doesn`t move (except "REF. ACESSORIO", "A ENCOMENDAR") so the rest of information is going to be discordinated ("FORNECEDOR", "PREÇO(€)","PRAZO...").

"PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model"

I have an Excel workbook with sheets with PivotTables using PowerPivot to fill them. The source are SQL Server views and a stored procedure. Somehow I receive now an error message:

- An issue with the Data Model is preventing Microsoft Excel from opening this workbook. Try restarting Microsoft Excel.

followed by

- PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model

I have Windows 10 and Office 2016. The first message I can't find on the internet. On the second one I found several tips (repair Office, reboot, etc), but nothing helps. Also on a colleagues computer this problem occurs (so it is in the workbook itself). An old version from 2 weeks ago, still works.

Any idea? Any suggestion?

Excel 2013 Pivot chart formatting lost

I built an Excel pivot chart tied to a cube built in SSAS.  It works great, mostly.  I changed some of the fonts and font sizes.  These are randomly reset for some of the rows when I refresh the connection, expand or contract sections, or add or remove fields.  This is obviously unnacceptable.  Please tell me there is a fix so I can actually use this product with my very basic expectations.

Excel 2016 -where is the code? in macro recording file explorer is used to open MS notepad, select all, copy and paste into excel cell A1 - no code shown for the filename opened and copied

This does not show 1. the network path 2. opening the filename 3. selecting all the text 3. copying the text 4. pasting the text into excel cell A1.  Shocking to me this works great but a few programmer friends cannot find the (hidden) code to make it so. I do need to edit the filename or path in the future.

Excel arrow keys stop working (NOT SCROLL LOCK)

Excel Office Pro Plus 2013 on windows 7 64 bit.

This has happened since I loaded it.. older excel never has this issue on same host.

When I am working in a spreadsheet and moving around with arrow keys.. they stop working randomly.

It is NOT scroll lock... I can turn scroll lock on and off no effect.

IF I change to another tab then back to the same tab .. the arrow keys work again!!!

This happens in many spreadsheets... seems like the larger they are the worse it it.. VERY annoying and makes it unusable!!

I have all the latest patches and have rebooted .. this has been going on since I loaded excel.. I was hoping a patch would fix it.. 

but it keeps happening randomly... 

ANY ideas?

File owner with rights cannot open their excel workbook

My Bursar has a file that I can open and view, because he has given me those rights.<o:p></o:p>

However when the Bursar who is the owner of the file tries to open the excel spread sheet it gives the following error:  You do not have credentials that allow you to open this workbook. You can request updated permission from (the Bursar email address).  Do you want to request updated permission?

How can I allow the owner to open the workbook?

Excel - spell check not working within VBA

I have a excel worksheet where I want to run a VBA to create a PDF of a certain range of cells, but before the PDF is created I need a spell check.

This worked OK for me in Excel 10, but since moving to 365 the spell check crashes.   

Spell check works fine manually, but not with the VBA.  

Code i am using is

.Range("B2:CT3069").CheckSpelling

When the macro runs, it opens the spell check dialogue, and will only let me press cancel, it wont let me use any of the suggested corrections.

Frustratingly it does work intermittently but i'm yet to isolate the reason why!

Please note this is in windows7.

Excel - Long numbers sadly transfer to Scientific notation

Hello,

I frequently use long numbers in MS Excel, but never in a Scientific way.  Long Phone numbers, long ISBN Book numbers...etc.   I can change the columns to "Text", but I paste another long number in and it still reverts to Scientific Notation.  

Is there a way to turn off the number conversions?  I haven't found anything in the options section.   I always convert the columns to text, yet the long numbers are copied as long numbers, yet when it hits excel the paste always converts to Scientific notation.

I look forward to your solutions, as it is a frequent nightmare. :)

Hello,

I have this demo vendor table with separate sort key:

And have create a little PowerPivot table:

So the vendor are sorted alphabetically.

But I want to sort by the separate key "sort".

How can I do this?

I used the formula to change the cell setting in the lower part to "", and set the cell border setting to none in the conditional format. I want to display the cell and content when there is data. If there is no data, this is not displayed, but But this part will always be printed when printing, always make a blank sheet of paper.

I have a VLOOKUP function in my spreadsheet. I drag it to all the cells in the column. However, these values will not refresh. I need to go to them cell by cell, press F2, and enter before calculating the values.

I try to enter values in Excel, the error message saying "The value you entered is not valid. A user has restricted values that can be entered into this cell.".

Autosave turned off - This workbook contains features that prevent it from using Autosave.

Hi, Please I need some help here. 

I have a ton of excel files that come up with this error and I am unable to enable the autosave feature on these work books.

Excel files are in all saved in .xlsx

I have tried deleting all the sheets in the workbook but still have this error. 

Can someone please help me understand why this is happening and how to fix it. Many thanks

Auto fill a cell based on a previous cell

I was wondering how I can set up my Excel sheet to automatically enter a value in one cell based on the content of another.  I'm filling out contact information (name, address, town, county).  I was wondering if I could have it automatically enter the county based on the town entered in the previous column?  

Jet.OLEDB.4.0 VBA Connection creates READ-ONLY COPY of referenced EXCEL file

Running VBA in Excel 16.0 (Part of Office 365 ProPlus 32 bit), when connection is created, a READ ONLY in memory copy of the referenced file running the code is created straight after connection opened. I.e immediately after this line of code:

cn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _
    "Data Source=" + Filename + ";" & _
    "Extended Properties=Excel 8.0"

This has only occurred after a recent Office update (Excel V18.03-->19.02). Anyone else experienced this? Need urgent help to stop this.

3D Maps in Excel Giving a Status Code Error 3

Hello,

A user at my company cannot access 3D Maps in Excel 2016, receiving this error message:

3D maps encountered an error while contacting Microsoft Bing mapping services. Functionality may be limited. Status Code : 3

A DirectX 10 error follows this. 

Graphics card has been updated, and all current Windows Updates have been applied. 

This is the only user to be having such a problem.
