Seems after we upgraded to Office 2016, some users are receiving this error in Excel and now also Power Point.

If user opens an existing .xlsx file, makes changes, then goes to save the file, they receive this error.  same for when creating a new file, with the defaults set to .xlsx type file:

"Errors were detected while saving (filename). Microsoft excel may be able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To make the repairs in a new file click Continue. To cancel saving the file click Cancel.  clicking continue to do a repair does not work.  

For now, a work around is to save it as a .xls type file.  Has anyone seen this issue and what is the fix.  Since it's now also happening with some Power Point files, i would assume its an Office issue, not just Excel.

Why Excel converts the document to pdf differently for different system resolution?

While converting the input document  in Microsoft Excel when the resolution is“1920 x 1080”,  the exported pdf document has two pages. But, the same document is converted in Microsoft Excel with system resolution as“1366 x 768”,  then the exported pdf document is fit into a single page. It seems, Microsoft Excel is exporting the pdf document based on the system resolution.

Format caption of icons for embedded objects in Excel 2013?

Hi,

I'm using Windows 7, Office 2013.

Is there any way to format the caption of the icon for an embedded object in Excel?

Specifically, when I insert the object into a spreadsheet cell, I would like to force a long caption into one line, rather than allowing the caption to wrap into multiple lines, which is the default.

I would show pictures illustrating what I want but my account is not yet verified.

Error TF80070 in Excel when connected to TFS after Version 1809 Build 10827.20150 Upgrade

Hi everyone.  Last week my system updated Office 365 to Version 1809 Build 10827.20150 for Excel, but this broke my integration with TFS.  Any existing Excel documents linked to TFS or even new ones I get this error:

TF80070: An error occurred while performing the operation.  It is recommenced that you save your work and restart the application.

I've restarted the app and even the computer with no success.  I even cleared the cache in C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation per a few other form recommendations, but this also didn't help.  Any suggestions?  On a new document I can connect to TFS and select the List, but it pulls about 6 rows then gives this error.  On existing lists I've already updated clicking any field gives this error.

compare dates and copy background color of two columns

column A contains date . A 1 is date  January 1 2018 and continue downwards. conditionally format every 5th cell are highlighted.

=MOD(ROW(),5)=3

Now in B 2 is date January 1 2019 and B 3 is January 2 2019 and continue downwards B 32 is January 28 2019 

In C 2 is date February 1 2019 and C 3 is February 2 2019 and continue downwards C 29 is February 28 2019 

In D 2 is date March 1 2019 and......M2 is date December 1 2019

What I want is:-

B 2 to B 32,C 2 to C 29,......M 2 to M 32 should show same back ground color as in column A

Is it possible to convert all of the urls in this column to photos?

One drive/Excel Online Survey : Problem Submitting Survey

Hi 

After 450 successful submissions the Survey has stopped accepting submissions. There have been no changes to the share status of the file. I have already tried re sharing the file with a new link, to no avail. 

I created a new survey as suggested elsewhere and it worked all right. What then is the issue?

I will upload an image of the error message all submitters receive after my account is verified.

It reads- Problem Submitting Survey. This survey can't accept submissions.
Contact the person who sent you this survey.

Help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

MS Excel restarts when I attempt to record/create a macro

Hi!

MS Excel keeps closing or restarting when I attempt the following:

* record a macro

* insert a new module

* open an imported module

I've tried the following:

* deleted temp files; repaired (quick and online); reinstalled Office 35 (64-bit)

Is there another form of trouble-shooting that I should do? Hope you can help me sort out this problem.

Hello Export,

We have Office 365 as well as 2016, We have downloaded one filed from Government portal having a extension is .Xlsm. We have fill the necessary information in given template and validating the sheet on a validation system give a message "sheet validated. Please proceed to generate JSON file. But while we are trying to Generate JOSN file then It show "Error Occurred while validating the sheet"

But same filed while we generate without office 365 It will create JOSN file.

So you are requested to please help me to resolve

Excel Hyperlink longer than 255

I am trying to make a hyperlink from two Excel cells to create a hyperlink longer than 255 characters.   I am using the formula =HYPERLINK(A1&B1,"Case Link") but am still getting #VALUE.   I can concatenate these together and at least get the text.   Is there a way to do this and get an active hyperlink?  The link uses cells withing the sheet to create the link so I can't use a link shortener I don't think.

Hello,

We are scanning barcodes. We scan 3 barcodes in a row the scanner is set to tab after the barcode is scanned. What I want to do is after the 3rd barcode is scanned I would like to return to column A and the next row. So after I scan a barcode into cell C4 I want excel to automatically go to cell A5.

Macro Recorder Problem for VBA 7.0 for Mac

I recently switched from MS Office 2012 for Mac (which I loved) due to my company going to O365. I was concerned about moving over to the new version of VBA but most of it seemed fine until recently. I am trying to use recorder to create the code necessary to open a file from a particular folder location on my hard drive. Getting the syntax exactly correct is much easier when you use the Macro Recorder. This worked great in 2012 but now under VBA 7.0, nothing records? 

Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Error when trying to install and an Excel add-in...

Hi,

I'm trying to install an add-in but keep getting the error message below. Has anyone seen anything like this before? To me it looks like I need to change my visual studio setting but I may be way off! Any help greatly appreciated!

VLookup - Basics

Hi, 

My name is Ramesh, trying to do a vlookup for multiple rows. if I do vlookup for the below sheet =vlookup("6456",a1:x100,2,0)

instead of 6456, I will use the location in a different sheet. But the output should come for both line item. How to do this. Please guide me.

MSN MoneyCentral Investor Stock Quotes discontinued - now what?

Hi, I have been happily using the MSN MoneyCentral Investor Stock Quotes in Excel for some time now.

Now all it comes back with is the following message: "We are improving the way that stock quotes are delivered to MSN Money users. Unfortunately, this means we are no longer able to provide financial market information to you in this format."

OK, I do understand it is MSN's prerogative to change their service at will. But still , it would be helpful if they could provide some suggestions for alternatives ways to achieve the same thing.

Can anyone suggest good, safe, free to use alternatives for getting stock quotes into Excel spreadsheets the way this used to be provided by the MSN service?

Get Data - Error fetching Columns MetaData

Using Office 365 / Excel 2016 (32bit) Version 1808 (Build 10730.20102 CTR) - Semi Annual Channel.

We have an Oracle DB, for which I have created various PowerPivot reports in Excel.  We have the Oracle ODAC client on several machines, and it has been working great for years now.  When opening an existing spreadsheet and refreshing the data, it continues to work great.  The problem is if I try to create any new queries to our Oracle server, I can see the list of tables and views just fine, but when I try to preview, edit or load any of them, I get the following error:

DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Fetching of 'Columns' MetaData from the Database failed'

I tried this from 3 different computers which all had the ODAC connector installed, and got the same error.  If I simply open an excel document with existing queries and refresh, no problem at all.

I was using version 12.1 of the Oracle ODAC package, so I tried upgrading to the latest 12.2 ODAC instead, and still the same error.    This is the 32bit ODAC to match up with my 32bit Excel.  

We have two Oracle servers, one running Oracle 11 and the other running Oracle 12.  Same issue with both.

The last time I tried to create a new Oracle query was around 2 months ago, so it would appear that something has broken between then and now.

Any suggestions?

GETPIVOTDATA not working

Hello

I’ve got a GETPIVOTDATA function as follows …

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum_SalesAmount]",$A$1,"[Geography].[Country]","[Geography].[Country].&[Canada]")

Which picks the value up from a pivot table.

This works fine, but if I want to assign a variable to the country e.g. change [Canada] for cell A17, I can't seem to get it to work…

I’ve tried a number of variations but I keep getting a Ref Error, even though Canada is in cell A17. Some of the variations below …

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum_SalesAmount]",$A$1,"[Geography].[Country]","[Geography].[Country].&[A17]")

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum_SalesAmount]",$A$1,"[Geography].[Country]",A17)

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum_SalesAmount]",$A$1,"[Geography].[Country]","[Geography].[Country].A17")

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum_SalesAmount]",$A$1,"[Geography].[Country]","[Geography].[Country].]"&A17)

SOLVED: Data Model causes freeze, Power Pivot causes crash in Excel 2013

Even with a clean installation of Office 2013 Professional Plus (x86) and all updates applied, the following two (related?) Excel 2013 issues can be reproduced on every one of our domain machines (both Windows 7 and 8.1):

Data Model causes freeze:

  1. Import Data from any source with "Add this data to the Data Model" checked.
  2. Excel freezes with status of "Loading Data Model..." but without any significant processor or RAM usage. Same happens when running in safe mode.
  3. If task is ended via Task Manager, Excel gives error message "Cannot quit Microsoft Excel". The only way to proceed is to kill the process.

Power Pivot causes crash:

  1. Enable Power Pivot Add-In
  2. Clicking any option in the Power Pivot ribbon menu will cause an immediate crash and exit of Excel, without any error message. The EXCEL.EXE process can still be found running in Task Manager.
  3. After killing the process or rebooting, starting Excel again will produce prompt: "Excel is running into problems with the 'Microsoft office powerpivot for excel 2013' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now? Yes/No"

We've attempted every recommended troubleshooting method in KB2758592,How to Troubleshoot Crashing and Not Responding Issues with Excel. OffCAT produces no clues other than crash logs similar to the following:

UPDATE

After further research, we found that this was caused by a false positive in McAfee HIPS 8.0, signature 3922. Reported to virus_research@mcafee.com.
