When attempting to import an Excel file into PowerPivot, Excel 2016 hangs. Here are the steps I use:
Open Excel, Blank workbook
Select PowerPivot from the menu ribbon
Select Manage; PowerPivot window opens
Select Get External Data; From Other Sources
Select Excel File; then Next
Browse to File location; select file. I don't get an opportunity to select Open.
Excel hangs
Environment: Windows 10, Office 2016 32-bit
I have created a data sheet with date/time of entry comparing date/time of notification occurring. This can sometimes be a negative time value (notification occurs prior to arrival - which is the desired outcome for the team). I have converted the negative time value using the =if(b2-a2<0,"-"&text(abs(b2-a2),"H:MM"),b2-a2) in my data table. I want this negative time value to appear on the pivot table and pivot graph. Please help.
I am new in creating pivot table. I tried a simple case of creating a pivot table to count types of fruits in two different baskets. My original table is
Basket1 | Basket2 |
apple | apple |
apple | apple |
orange | orange |
pears | pears |
pears | mango |
mango | mango |
When I created the pivot table, I see the first column values are correct but the second column is incorrect. The Pivot table is as below, the second column is copy of first column.
Row Labels | Count of Basket1 | Count of Basket2 |
apple | 2 | 2 |
mango | 1 | 1 |
orange | 1 | 1 |
pears | 2 | 2 |
Grand Total | 6 | 6 |
IN Pivot table field I have
- No filter
- Rows Field: basket1
- Column Field: Values
- Values Field: Count of basket1 and Count of Basket2
(Pivot table fields image could not be posted)
What am I doing wrong?
My organisation uses VBA macros in Excel 2003 and 2007 to paste images (typically png) into formatted Excel reports. We normally do this with the following function:
ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert(Map)
However, since upgrading to 2010 the function no longer works properly. Instead of embedding the image into the Excel document, it just embeds a hyperlink pointing to the file on my C drive. This of course means that I can't share the file with other users unless they also have the same folder structure with the png files in them.
Why does this happen? Why has this been broken in 2010? How do I submit a bug report? And when will it be fixed?
I'm aware that a simple workaround is to do the following:
ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert(Map).Select
Selection.CopyPicture
Selection.Delete
ActiveSheet.Paste
...but the purpose of my post here is to clarify that what I'm seeing is intended or not. Thanks
Tore
In Office 2010 you cannot use the Insert Copied Row option when your spreadsheet has filtered out rows. This is very annoying for my line of work as I have to take my master spreadsheets and split them into smaller spreadsheets to work from. The other option is to use Insert Row then copy over the content of my desired row, but this is a 2 step process and if I have hidden columns the information doesn't copy over properly.
I request that in newer versions of Excel that Insert Copied Row be functional for spreadsheets with filtered out rows.
I have a number of Excel spreadsheets that I publish on the web weekly. We are now looking to make them mobile friendly and have to add this statement:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
I can add it manually but would like to have this meta statement added automatically with all the other meta statements that are included when I save the document as html.
Can this be accomplished? If so, how.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Forum
I have this strange issue after upgrading to Excel Build 16.0.7369.2038
Spreadsheets with VBA/Macro makes Excel Hang-up
I have tested it on 5-6 Computers same issue, but our Remote desktop server does
not install automatic updates and is still running Excel build 16.0.4432.1003.
The Spreadsheet in question works fine on that build.
Is there VBA/Macro issues in Excel Build 16.0.7369.2038 ?
Good day,
I recently installed Microsoft Excel 2016 and wanted to enable the Power View and Power Pivot. I followed the instructions that Miscrosoft provided in following links, however none allows me to enable. It seems the Power Pivot Add-In is "missing"
For Power Pivot I followed this instructions but from the very first installation of Excel 2016, the Add-Inn never appeared:
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Start-the-Power-Pivot-in-Microsoft-Excel-add-in-a891a66d-36e3-43fc-81e8-fc4798f39ea8?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US
For Power View I followed this instructions. I could create the Icon in the Ribbon but when click on it to enable for the first time it did not worked:

Please help me on these issues

Hello,
I've searched until I'm blue in the face for the answer to this question. I made a log of all sales between the 3 brand of vehicles we offer (each one its own sheet) then a 4th sheet with the totals. The problem I'm having is totaling the spiffs for the salesman on the total sheet. They are paid for one kind of warranty and not the other. Rather than make another column (already too many) I wanted to color the warranty profit cell red so it wouldn't be counted in this countifs statement
"=SUM(COUNTIFS(CDJR!E4:E150,$A$2,CDJR!N4:N150,$Y$2))*25"
its looking at sheet CDJR down column E for the salesman listed in $A$2 and down the N column (warranty profit) comparing it to cell $Y$2 which is ">=1" then multiplying that count by 25 for the payable spiff.
its working fine (other than having to do that countifs for each sheet since CDJR:KIA wasn't counting for all sheets and giving a #VALUE return - which is a problem I'm working around) but I want it to sort out the non-payable warranties. I tried this and its giving a total of 0:
=SUM(IF(ColorCompare(CDJR!N4:N150,TOTALS!Y2),COUNTIFS(CDJR!E4:E150,$A$2,CDJR!N4:N150,$Y$2),)*25)
The Y2 cell where I placed ">=1" is colored Red.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi
I have a macro being used in a file as below
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
Dim sFileName As String
Dim sDateTime As String
With ThisWorkbook
sDateTime = " (" & Format(Now, "yyyy-mm-dd hhmm") & ").xlsm"
sFileName = Application.WorksheetFunction.Substitute _
(.FullName, ".xlsm", sDateTime)
.SaveCopyAs sFileName
End With
End Sub
It creates a nice backup file with time stamp but in the SAME FOLDER.
I want to change the folder path, how to do that?

Hi Guys,
I need help for Number distribution in excel.
I want to distribute a number (for example "120" ) to different cells (12 cells) in the histogram/normal distribution pattern ( Low-high-low)
Detailed
My calculated Manmonth for doing one work = 120
Duration of work is = 12 months
i need to distribute the manmonth from month 1 to 12. In the stating, start with low and gradually increase in next month and decrease when it reaches to the last.
How i can apply this in excel.
Opening the Power Query Workbook Queries Pane within Excel results in a loss of scroll wheel functionality. You can temporarily remedy this by clicking out of excel and then back in. However, upon closing and opening the pane within excel the scroll wheel issue will represent itself.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue? Is it a known bug?
