What if Analysis writeback warning

$
0
0

I am writing back in a filtered cube for forecast purpose, but since I started using Excel 2013 I get below warning whenever I change a value.

The error:

"The value you are changing is affected by filtering on rows or columns. If you apply a change to this cell, the changes will affect the unfiltered values in the data source. Click OK to apply the change".

When I click OK it posts the value I type (only the first number). So if I want to type in "100" I have to type:

 "1"

"enter"

"00"

That's annoying when changing many values.

How can I get rid of the warning?

Can the check be turned off to avoid getting the warning or what options do I have?

Excel file save error: Someone else is working in right now. Please try again later.

When trying to save a modified Excel file, which has been opened from a network share, our users are receiving the following message:

Someone else is working in "\\domain.com\users\username\Document.xls" right now. Please try again later.

The clients that have been affected are Windows 7 clients, and the DFS share is being served from a Windows 2012 server. I have already confirmed that DFS replication has not been enabled, so it isn't trying to lock files for replication. I have also disabled any real-time scanning that is occurring on the client to make sure that the AV software wasn't locking the files. I did notice when viewing the list of Open Files from the server's Computer Management console that when a users experiences this issue the file appears to be opened 4 times. Three times it shows that it was opened in Read mode and the 4th instance shows an Open Mode of Write. Typically, a file which is working correctly should just show one instance with the Open Mode of Read+Write. None of these open instances are temporary files preceded with a ~.

Any thoughts?

"Excel found unreadable content in [Book_Name]" in Excel 2010 PowerPivot table containing KPIs and time dimension measures

When attempting to open in Excel 2010 an .xlsx doc containing two PowerPivot Tables I get an error message:

"Excel found unreadable content in 'Book_Name.' Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?"

Upon clicking yes, Excel disables one of the first PowerPivot tables (which also contains KPIs) and transforms the data into text and I get the below error log:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?>
-<recoveryLog xmlns="error095920_01.xmlErrors">http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main"><logFileName>error095920_01.xml</logFileName><summary>Errors were detected in file 'C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\Powerpivot Demand Supply Model 3i.xlsx'</summary>-<removedParts summary="Following is a list of removed parts:"><removedPart>Removed Part: /xl/pivotTables/pivotTable1.xml part with XML error. (PivotTable view) Catastrophic failure Line 2, column 0.</removedPart></removedParts>-<removedRecords summary="Following is a list of removed records:"><removedRecord>Removed Records: Workbook properties from /xl/workbook.xml part (Workbook)</removedRecord></removedRecords></recoveryLog>

I've already tried:

  • Reinstalling VB for Apps
  • 2010 Hotfix package (already had it)

Could this have something to do with the PowerPivot KPIs? Are KPIs unstable in general and should I be avoiding them? There are time dimension calculated measures in that table.

Formula Cell References Change When Sorting After Filtering

Morning everyone,

I have two worksheets, parts of which i've included below. In Worksheet A a profile code is entered into the 'Profile' column and a millimetre width is entered into the 'Width' column. I need a formula to be entered into the 'Manufacturing Code' column which would access the table shown in Worksheet B, cross-referencing the profile code and the width entered to give the manufacturing code.

Worksheet A

Due Date Order Number Profile Width Depth Ring Size ID (mm) Manufacturing Code
1/11/14 12456 WCAXL 3.02 S 19.25
2/11/14 12365 WCAL 7.02 U 19.95
9/11/14 12456 WCAH 4.02 W 20.75

Worksheet B

2.02 2.52 3.02 3.52 4.02 5.02 6.02 7.02 8.02
WCAXL 49 50 51 51 52 53 54 55 56
WCAL 49 50 51 51 52 53 54 55 56
WCAM 57 58 59 59 60 61 62 63 64
WCAH 65 66 67 67 68 69 70 71 72

Upon seeking help before I have arrived on the formula shown below:

=INDEX(wsB!$B$2:$J$5,MATCH(wsA!$C2,wsB!$A$2:$A$5,0),MATCH(wsA!$D2,wsB!$B$1:$J$1,0))

This works exactly how I'd want it to, right up until I need to sort any of the columns. Then, the two cell references wsA!$C2 and wsA!$D2 do not change correctly relative to the row the formula is now in after the sort. I can see from this site and others that this is a common issue with Excel '07?

Does anyone know of a way around this?

Thanks a lot,

Rob Mitchell

Does Microsoft still support/provide downloads for Power BI? The only link I found in the support forums directs to a dead page.

I can't find any Power BI tools for Office 2010 32-bit in the Office download center anymore. Does Microsoft not offer these any more?

Hello

I have a Excel file that contains a simple reference to the cell of another workbook. Both workbooks are in the same directory on my computer. When I move the two files and reopen the file containing the reference, I get the following error message in Excel 2013 (sadly, the path of the reference isn't automatically updated):

We can't update some of the links in your workbook right now.

You can continue without updating their values, or edit the links you think are wrong.

This problem appears only in Excel 2013 - in Excel 2010 or older this works perfectly. I read already many forum discussions but found nowhere a satisfying solution (I don't want to create a xlsb file).

Office 2010 - it works perfectly (the path is automatically updated):

Office 2013 - it doesn't work (the path isn't automatically updated):

Thanks in advance

Excel: setup pages to print 20 rows on each page + enlarge font

I have 2 pages of data.

I want to create a macro to create page breaks every 20 rows.

I've recorded a macro to create manual page breaks every 20 rows, but is there a piece of code that will so this automatically.

Also, I would like the data to be enlarged to fill each page - I don't think there is a tool to do this but perhaps there is some code that will do this?

PowerPivot 'configuration system fails to initialise' error

I hope I am doing this in the correct manner, I don't know what else to do, I've been shoved from pillar to post with all the usual Microsoft 'help', the remote assistance was comical and the lady on the phone gave me a number to ring which was the one I was calling her on! Any real help would be much appreciated!

I have created a table in a stand alone version of Excel 2013 (Windows 8.1 64bit) and after adding  PowerPivot to the ribbon I attempted to create a data model by clicking in a cell within the table then clicking  'Manage'.

Below is the error message that keeps appearing

"We couldn't get data from the Data Model. Here's the error message we got:

The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Analysis.Services.XmlaClient' threw an exception.

Configuration system failed to initialize.

Root element is missing. (C\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\config\machine\config)

When I close this error another appears with a details button, when clicked shows:

Error opening file; seemingly unrelated sharepoint path

Sorry for no screenshot, posting this from work where I could add a screenshot directly, but can't access free image hosting sites as required by the forum (URL instead of direct attachment)

I created a workbook months ago, and handed it off to end users (I haven't touched it recently). Everything worked fine until this week. Now, when users (including myself, once I started investigating) are getting this warning error when opening the file, both from the LAN or also from local copies made from the LAN copy:

"Unable to open https://share.company.com/users/userID/AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_SomeFileName.zip/SomeFileName.xlsm. The internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found"

[italics are where I replaced the real info with generic, to provide a cleaner example] The SomeFileName is not the same name as the file being opened, which just adds to the weird. I tried accessing the Sharepoint URL directly via my browser, but was unsuccessful (it is my userID that shows up in the error message, regardless of which user tries to open it). Because it is just a warning error, the users can then continue on to the file, but asking users just to ignore the error is not an acceptable solution.

The one thing that changed over the weekend is we had a power outage and our servers were restarted. Maybe that resulted in the loss of temp files, but this file was on the LAN not hosted via Sharepoint so I'm not sure why a temp file would even have been saved out there on what appears to be a sharepoint path.

Most importantly, I'm not sure where this link would be stored in the workbook, so I can remove or reset it. I checked properties, and also all formulas.

Has anyone run into this before? The closest I found was http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2387587/en-gb but that still doesn't explain why the link would point to a sharepoint location, or how to fix the problem.

Using Excel 2010 x32, local installs on our PCs, and a shared LAN folder. Most folks have Win7 x32, a few have Win7 x64

 Thanks!!

I have the office professorial 2013 installed on a windows server 2012 RDS.
I can open all the office programs and work with it with out any problem.
If I try to export some data from SAP Business One to Excel I got the following message:
"Microsoft office cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office program by using Control Panel"
If I have an instance of the excel opened before I export the data, I got no error. It only happens if I do not have the excel open at the moment I export the data.
I already tried to Repair, enter the product key again, uninstall using the program O15CTRRemove.diagcab and install again. I have no idea what else I can do.

Excel 2010 on Windows XP changing path of link files

$

we have several Excel 2010 files stored on a server containing links to other excels stored on the same server.

when these files are opened and saved from particular PCs, we discovered that they had corrupted the (UNC) paths of the links, but with a very strange manner:

the paths from "\\server\share\F1\F2\..." became "\\server\F1\F2\..."

The users corrupting the paths all have the same access rights to \\server\share as the ones that don't corrupt them.

the only difference we noticed in the two groups of users is that the ones corrupting the paths are using excel 2010 on windows XP, while the rest are using windows 7, but I don't see how that might make a difference...

any ideas?

Error in process in SharePoint

I have an urgent problem, since I have all the production stop for this case, you will see SharePoint 2007 was well so far with an application {migrated on called Board of control, but moving to SharePoint 2013, well less the part of the application of a third party, because after fighting with the parameters you can retrieve information {on and process it, but still part of the ETL is needed}}These eTL work Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 driver andthat works until it reaches there, since this conun procedure stored called [DWSPLoadExcelData] which eliminates and everything

but when you reach the part of excel contact, there tells me that there is no controller, (because this installed office 2007, and even the AccessDatabaseEngine_X64), already is the OLE indeed doing a file type UDL, but passing it to Sql server when you run the SP it appears the error.

If someone passed you, I could comment as this is how it happens or how to fix it... seriously... I invite you a beer and e again fan of any team of f {spectator,...}
SET @COMMAND = 'SELECT * INTO '+ @TableDestine +' FROM OPENROWSET(''Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'',''Excel 12.0;Database=' + @FileName + ''', ''SELECT * FROM [' + @Sheet + '$]'')'
where is @TableDestine the temporary table that I think

@FileName: would the excel file (already the probe with the remote path \ and tb with D:\miArchivo.Xlsx and D:\miArchivo.Xls)

@Sheet: is in fact Sheet1

I get the following error

OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "(null)" returned message "The Microsoft Access database engine cannot open or write to the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data.".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "(null)".

or the server falls in fact when I give to, from remote server falls... tb already check the Linked Servers \ providens and there the OLE DB constroladores (and the rest {) appear to me in fact did two m {ACE but nothing else...}

seriously, I need it.

I would like to reformat them as U34, U35, U36, U38, U42

How would I do this?

Excel Crashes when Editing PIVOT Tables

$

We have an end user whose Excel 2013 on a Dell Latitude E7440 Ultrabook (Office 365 Professional Plus Subscription) crashes when the user tries to manipulate/edit PIVOT tables.  We've reached out to Microsoft support through Office 365 who've sent us here.  We have taken the following steps as far as troubleshooting is concerned;

  • Tried excel files on an alternative system (tried on both Win. 7, and Win 8.1)
  • Re-built the excel file from scratch (blank excel sheet, all new data)
  • Updated all drivers/software
  • Flashed BIOS
  • Repaired Office (Both quick repair and online repair)
  • Clean wipe of Office 365, and re-install

The data is financial type data and doesn't contain any special characters or characters that would most likely be deemed "problematic."  It's very odd, and frustrating for the end user.  Any assistance is highly appreciated.
