excel workbook crash when saving

Dears,

kindly i need your help in solving a trouble in shared workbook as this sheet have an "user form" for authorization level option. when saving this workbook in any PC, the workbook has been crashed without saving.

i noticed when deactivate the authorization level option the problem is go away. but i can't give up this option, as it required  

there is a solution for this problem

I need to restrict pasting in a spreadsheet to values only.  I am using Excel 2010.  Thank you all in advance for the help!

Your changes could not be saved to 'Z:\.....' because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file.

I'm running Windows 8.1 with Office 365, all 64bit. This happens with Word and Excel both. I can save documents locally, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business but not my company's file server. This happens when I'm remote and local (in the office). I have uninstalled and re installed Office 365 several times. I have removed indexing on the file server folder than I am trying to save to.

I have removed file indexing on the folder containing the documents...same results

I am the only one editing these docs...

I have uninstalled 64 bit...reinstalled 32bit Office...same results

I returned the system to 64bit office...

I'm running McAfee Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 and have no way of disabling it

Dual Y axis line chart problem in Excel

I have a problem while creating a dual Y-axis chart. 

Let's say if I have 2 sequences, the A sequence has 100 and 84, and the B sequence has 100 and 36. When I create a single Y axis line chart, it seems no problem. But if i use the left Y-axis for A sequence and the right Y-axis for B sequence, the chart can't display correctly. Two lines will be overlap, which is obviously wrong.
I know that I can manually adjust the scales of axes but I think it is caused by the default algorithm which will auto set the scales of the axes in Excel. Normally, we will not check and adjust the scales as we trust Excel. 

Can anyone help me on this issue? Is there any excel add-in could auto adjustment the algorithm for dual axes chart? Thanks.

Have excel 2013 use a fomula in one cell only if another cell has a value

I have a column B that have 1500 lines.   In column F I want it to use a simple formula but only if the corresponding cell in B has a value.

So if B2 has anything in it. I want F1 to use this formula =A2&B2&C2&D2&E2

I have tried =IF(B2,"=A2&B2&C2&D2&E2",0)

Where am I messing up?

Excel 2007 - problem with saving files

Hi.

Our environment:

Windows 7 SP1 64-bit by Citrix VDI in a Box 5.3-5.4

Office 2007 SP3

We have irregular problems saving files - mostly excel files, but for example in a word also happened

After clicking Save an error occurs:

~you cannot save changes because of a sharing violation

When you click save as: a dialog is truncated (not showing folders):

we're after a battle with Citrix - creating VDI server on different hypervisor etc. - and nothing. According to. Citrix has to lie on the side of MS.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Filter Special Values and Any Duplicates in Excel 2010

Hi

I am having some difficulty trying to solve what seems to be a simple and straightforward request from one of my work colleagues.

Below is the request.....

  1. Filter special or specific values from a "raw" or data dump list and their (special or specific values) duplicates, if applicable.
  2. If #1 above is possible, is there a way for this to be done in 1 or 2 steps? (Basically no macro if possible)

I tried Advanced Filter, Custom Filter, IF+VLOOKUP function combination that all the online forums say to use with keywords (duplicates, filter, etc.). However, I keep running into a issue of errors due to the duplicate values OR no changes because I must be using the Filter functions incorrectly.

If anybody can please assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

Very large cubeset (large number of elements)

I've looked and not found any relevant information- is there a limit on the number of elements in a cubeset being called from Excel?

I have a list of over 18,000 items and need to run an analysis for just that group of items, and I decided to try to create a cubeset and use cubeformulas to pull the results. Each item is a cubemember is a seperate cell (G4:G18285).

When I try to use a smaller cubset range, I get results as expected:

H1=CUBESET("BIRC",INDIRECT("G4:G1330"))

I1=CUBEVALUE("BIRC", H1, H2, H3)  'H2 and H3 are the measure and a filter) = 595,251

but when I expand the source range just a little (and still nowhere near my 18K cells):

H1=CUBESET("BIRC",INDIRECT("G4:G1335"))

My H1 calculates (seemingly without errors), but I1 turns into #N/A

If I expand just a little more,

H1=CUBESET("BIRC",INDIRECT("G4:G1340"))

Then H1 and I1 are both #N/A

I also tried creating smaller cubesets and then merging them in a new cubeset (just to see what would happen) but I can't get a working syntax, or maybe it isn't possible:

H1=CUBESET("BIRC",INDIRECT("G4:G1300"))

J1=CUBESET("BIRC",INDIRECT("G1301:G1400"))

K1=CUBESET("BIRC",({H1,J1})) = "the formula you typed contains an error"

K1=CUBESET("BIRC",(H1,J1)) = #N/A

Question 1: What are the functional limits of CUBESET source ranges/cells?

Question 2: What is the best approach to build a large cubeset like this in Excel, to drive an analysis?

Excel 2010 Pivot Chart

On my pivot chart, the field filters at the top of the chart do not show the field value that it was filtered on.  We filter on Customer.  I am clicked into the chart and I select the analyze tab, on the field button drop down, the "show legend field buttons" option is not enabled.

Why isn't that enabled?

Hello,

I have been looking for a solution to this problem.  Querytables in Excel unable to dowlownd because of secure Web page (HTTPS://). 

The problem is occuring because the URL will cache.  Does anyone please have a solution.  Please!

To resolve this situation, this is what I found:

1. Edit the web page from where you are pulling your data and remove the no-cache header. You would be looking for a meta tag like the following:

<HTTP-EQUIV="PRAGMA" CONTENT="NO-CACHE">

How do I remove the no-cache header within the VBA code?

Hi,

I have a listbox that contains some files address and I can open that files by dable clicking on listbox items.
Now, is there any way to see the files preview in an imagebox, by clicking the list box items?

the files can be any thing, maybe word, Excel, PDF, or even Autocad

Excel pivot table - Display all null and zero values

Is there a way in an Excel 2010 pivot table to show data for which the values are null or zero.  Going to pivot table options >display>ticking both show items on rows and columns with no data...but that doesn't seem to work.   Is there another way of displaying null values or zero values?

Plotting Errors in Excel 2013

I'm having a basic issue with plotting data in Microsoft Excel 2013.

By default, when selecting a group of data cells, excel (at least from the 2010 version I used to use) will automatically make the left-most column the x-axis. 

However it refuses to do this in the 2013 version and it instead plots the left-most column just like all the rest of the data and makes the x-axis cell number. 

I've already went to select data and fixed this (which is already frustrating enough). However when I try to format the revised x-axis it won't even allow me to shorten the range. It starts out as time (min) from 0 to 200 and I can't find any options that will allow me to narrow it to say 40 to 120.

Are these all errors in the software or is there some sort of change in default settings I need to apply? All help is appreciated.

Excel 2010 crashes on save command

Hi,

after reformatting the scale a the vertical axis in an Excel 2010 document, the programme crashes on the save command.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and the following two error reports are generated:

Changes to Excel link sources are not saved after closing the workbook

We've had several instances over the last few weeks where users are updating the source files for various links within a spreadsheet, saving their changes and closing the file. Then, next time another user goes into the file, the links have reverted back to their previous values, as if the first user never went in and changed them.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing? The user changing the links is running Excel 2013. The user opening the file for review is using Excel 2010. Could there be some issue there?

1 csv time value, but viewing in excel files, the value became different after 2 weeks?

Hi Experts,

Would like to ask if you have encountered this and if you have a solution. I generated a time value from a batch fileecho %time% to a csv. The correct result is in Excel 1. However, when I opened again the excel after 2 weeks, it became a different value. Any Idea why this happened and how can I retrieve the previous results? Thanks a lot for those who will  respond.

Save As Not Working Properly in Excel 2013

This is a very strange issue that my customer is having.

Brand new PC (64-bit Dell), came with OEM version of Office 2013 Pro.

They open documents supplied by 3rd party.  These documents have no extension in file name, but they are basically just text files.  They were created by other application, exporting a report.  So if we open the file with Notepad, it looks like a simple report text file with headers, columns, data, etc.

The requirement is to save these files with a password and pass them on to the end user.  They have chosen Excel to do this with, since the end user may need to massage the data in the report.

Here is the issue:  We open the file, Excel suggests columns and we accept all defaults.  When we choose Save As, then choose Excel Workbook (*.xlsx), the file saves as a PDF document.  It is still called filename.xlsx, but it has an Adobe Acrobat icon next to the file name in Explorer.  If we double click on it, we get an adobe message saying invalid file format.  So even with an xlsx extension, it still seems to be an acrobat document.

If when we Save As, we select Excel 97-2003 document (*.xls), everything works fine.  This is only a problem when using current excel format.

What if Analysis writeback warning

I am writing back in a filtered cube for forecast purpose, but since I started using Excel 2013 I get below warning whenever I change a value. 

 

The error:

"The value you are changing is affected by filtering on rows or columns. If you apply a change to this cell, the changes will affect the unfiltered values in the data source. Click OK to apply the change".

 

When I click OK it posts the value I type (only the first number). So if I want to type in "100" I have to type:

 "1"

"enter"

"00"

 

That's annoying when changing many values.

 

How can I get rid of the warning?

Can the check be turned off to avoid getting the warning or what options do I have?

Cannot start the source application for this object - Embedded word 2010 doc in Excel 2013...really odd

I have some word documents that are embedded in Excel spreadsheets. When I double click I get this message "cannot start the source application for this object".

- Office 2013 on other computers open these word 2010 files

- Office 2011 on a Mac also open these word 2010 files

- I can open word 2003 and 2013 files embedded in the spreadsheet

- I can open powerpoint 2010 files embedded in the spreadsheet

- I can open pdf files embedded in the spreadsheet

What I tried so far, but didn't work: (restarted after the uninstall and after the reinstall)

- In Excel and in Word: Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> File Block Settings -> Restore Defaults

- Applied 2 Microsoft Hot Fixes

- Uninstalled from Control Panel -> Programs and then reinstalled

- Used Microsoft tool "Fix it" to uninstall Office 2013 and then reinstalled

- Uninstalled from Control Panel -> Programs, renamed folders in Appdata and Program Files and then reinstalled

Note: after reinstalling Office I still see the list of most recent files I opened in Excel...I suspect the uninstall is not removing it completely.
