Power Pivot drillthrough limited to 1000 rows

Hello,

I am using Excel 2016, I made connection to an external Excel file and used Power Pivot to analyze the data. When I double clicked on one of the results, it only returned the first 1000 rows. I followed an online article (for Excel 2013), but the option to increase the number of results is greyed out.

Is there a new feature in 2016 to solve this?

How do I change the font size in Excel 2016 PivotTable Field List?

Recently upgraded to Office365/Excel 2016.  Font size in the PivotTable Field List is so amazingly small, I'll need a magnifying glass to read it.  

How do I increase the font size of the pivot table Field List, without changing the font size on everything else in my workbook or Excel instance?  Have looked all over and can't find anything that works.

Question about Excel 2010 and .xlk files

Hi to all

In our Domain we have a file server.
If i create a new .xlsx file and check "Always create backup" in Save as -> Tools -> General Options
When i save it localy work without issues
When the same file save it in a map drive in our file server  THEN excel also create an .xlk file with 0 size.

Can anyone verify this or know why this happens???

Filtering in Excel without checking every possible value?

In my Excel there's data for 400 employees, but I have to report on data from 120 EmpIds. The only way I know how to do this is to check "Select Multiple Items", and then scroll and select each EmpId. It's time-consuming to say the least.

Is it possible to filter by list of EmpIds, instead of having to select each of the 120 EmpIds?

How to combine IF-function and drop down list?

When a specific value from a drop down list i chosen, I want a new drop down list to appear in the cell next to. This second drop down should not be visible when other values are chosen, alternatively different drop downs based on the value from the first drop down. Is this possible? If not, can it somehow be solved with conditional formatting?

Getpivot data formula

Hi..

Could you please assist to make copy for GetPivot data formula for the whole column or some selected rows.

The formula was ..

=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Sum of QTY 2]",$M$2,"[Table35].[DATE]","[Table35].[DATE].&[2020-07-01T00:00:00]","[Table35].[LOCATION]","[Table35].[LOCATION].&[AUH]")

I got the result for first cell only but it was not possible to make copy for some selected cells.

I have used SUMIFS or SUMIF to do conditional summary but this one beats me. 

I need to SUM Column B if Column A is Monday and so on. Thanks.

Power Query not working

My Power Query commands have stopped working it doesn't allow me to Import data from External Source, neither from Excel, Text file etc. I get below mentioned error I have submitted error information multiple times but no reply

Template for income/expenditure with monthly totals

Hi there, I use an Excel spreadsheet to record finances - at the moment everything is in one long list and I have a total for the year but if I want to extract monthly income I have to cut and paste and then autocalculate the total manually.  Is there a template for income and expenditure that I can use that's got everything I need built in?  I'm not very good at Excel I'm afraid, so it will need to be idiot-proof!

Pivot table field is truncated if >255 characters if pivots use connection string

I have an Excel 2013 workbook containing pivot tables.  The Pivot tables get their data from a separate Excel workbook, via a connection string (Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;, etc).  If I were to insert a pivot table into the source document, the pivot field contains all characters in the description field.  However, in the separate file format described above, the description is truncated.  Anything that needs entered into the connection string to avoid this?  Thanks, Charles

Excel 365 problem opening file xlsx "Name Conflict Name cannot be the same as a built-in name"

Hi Everyone, we are experiencing an annoing issue with Excel 365 when opening a file that has been modified by multiple users.
We have both installation in EN and IT language

Opening file from client with Excel EN language version :
Microsoft Excel For Office 365 MSO (16.0.12527.20612) 32-bit
i have the following error :
Name Conflict
Name cannot be the same as a built-in name.
Old name:_FilterDatabase

While Opening file from client with Excel IT language version:
Microsoft Excel for Office 365 MSO (16.0.12527.20612) 32-bit
There is no error

To open a file correctly without any error i have to switch on excel options language-->Office Display Language from English to Italian and file open without any Conflict.
Could you please help us to solve this issue, this  is a language pack conflict?
Let me know if you need more info and further details.

Update: Removing with macro all hidden name in the Excel worksheet and then saved it , it has been opened also in EN version without any issue.

Now my question is why the english version reports a conflict on this file and it isn't in the italian version?

Conditional Formatting Formula

What I'm looking to do is, if a date had been entered into Col I, then I want the corresponding cell in Col H to have no conditional formatting (or a white cell fill).

The only cells in Col H to appear as red, are the ones in the past who haven't yet got an entry in Col I.

How to truncate column of cells with different values?

I have a column of cells that have alphanumeric computer names, the computer names are different lengths.  I would like to truncate the first four characters AND the last two characters and put the new values in a different column.

For example:

A computer name CHWIUSERID01 should be truncated to USERID

A computer named CHWIUSR01 should be truncated to USR

Essentially I want to chop-off the first four and last two characters of each value.  

I can use TEXT TO COLUMNS to truncate the first four, but since the value lengths are different I cannot use TEXT TO COLUMNS to truncate the last two.  Is there a better way to accomplish this?

Seems after we upgraded to Office 2016, some users are receiving this error in Excel and now also Power Point.

If user opens an existing .xlsx file, makes changes, then goes to save the file, they receive this error.  same for when creating a new file, with the defaults set to .xlsx type file:

"Errors were detected while saving (filename). Microsoft excel may be able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To make the repairs in a new file click Continue. To cancel saving the file click Cancel.  clicking continue to do a repair does not work.  

For now, a work around is to save it as a .xls type file.  Has anyone seen this issue and what is the fix.  Since it's now also happening with some Power Point files, i would assume its an Office issue, not just Excel.

I'm having the same problem as someone else whose  Excel 2010 the "Get External Data" is grayed out was also greyed out.  There was a suggestion to clear the old external data.  How do you clear old external data?

PowerPivot in Excel 2016 Data Model Lost -- Empty

I am facing a most frustrating error with Excel 2016. Random loss of the data model. It happens most frequently if you open more then one instance of Excel. I make constant backups as I go but tonight even the most recent backup did not have the data model and this time I was working on a single file. What is going on? I never once lost the data model in 2013.

Hours of work is lost by this bug! Does anyone have a fix?

Excel 2016 not lock already opened file

Hello,

We have a file server with Windows Server 2012 R2.

All User have Office 365 Business premium and Office 2016 installed on their workstations.

We have the following problem:

  • User A open a Excel 2016 file inside a network folder of the file server, the lock ~$filename file is generated correctly (Opening the lock file with a text editor is possible to see the name of User A).
  • Meanwhile a user B try to open the same file. Sometimes happen that user B can open in write mode the file without any alert or popup about that fact the file is already open.
  • User B is able to save the file, producing the loss of data of user A.
  • User A is able to save the file, producing the loss of data of user B.

User are used to be informed by typical "open in read only" popup when another user have already opened the file. If they don't see any alert, they suppose to open the file in exclusive mode.

The problem is very relevant and impact on productivity and can produce relevant data loss.


Please, how can resolve this problem ?

Download for Power View Add-In For Excel 2016 Obsolete?

I just picked up a new development laptop and have run into something "odd".

I'm trying to find the download for Power View for Excel 2016 and I cannot find it anywhere! And I've literally searched the entire Internet!

I know there's the approach that now the functionality of PV is rolled into Power BI Desktop, but we're not using Power BI, and any visualizations need to be in Excel. I've got a bunch of Excel workbooks I created that have a good number of Power View sheets, and I would like to be able to use Excel going forward for future development.

And if the com add-in is truly no longer available, then how does one incorporate a Power BI visualization into an Excel workbook?

The powers that be here do not want to invest in the whole hosted Power BI paradigm just yet, and we have a slew of people in the field who need to access our data and charts, etc.  - which they can do via VPN into our network.

So long story short: am I out of luck with trying to find the download for Power View for 2016?
