So, I have a shared Excel file on a shared drive on my work PC:
The file locked up today ("This operation cannot be completed" was displayed upon opening and "This file is locked" was displayed after attempting to access theReview tab (>> Share Workbook >> (uncheck)Allow changes by other users)).
I moved the file (for the sake of explanation, lets use the name sicily.xlsx) to my local C: drive. From there, I unshared the file, reshared it, and saved the same file but with a different name (sicily1.xlsx) back to my Shared drive. It is no longer causing problems. When I tried to name sicily1BACK to sicily, the program reverted back to its initial output status.
I have located the file lockfile (~$Sicily.xlsx) that is residing in my shared drive since August 19, 2013. When I attempt to rightclick and delete the lockfile, nothing happens.
Is there a way to delete this lockfile? Why is it refusing to respond to a simple delete command? Am I right by assuming this lockfile is the cause of my issues?
Please let me know if you guys know of anything! Thank you so much!
