Given Scenario:
a. I am not using SharePoint.
b. I want to put an Excel file (with multiple worksheets) on an ftp server so that users can connect to it from anywhere. FTP Server is password protected.
c. There is one sheet which has 2 sections - commercial & technical. My desire is to allow technical users to edit only the technical section (hence we will define a range). Likewise for the commercial people.
d. I use the Review-Allow Users to Edit Ranges to define ranges for each group. I protect the worksheet and save it on the server after enabling sharing. Once shared, the 'allow users to edit range' icon is disabled.
e. when multiple users connect to the sheet, the one who gets in first can access the sheet and make changes in the fields under password protection. But to the other users logging in, i get a message that file is protected. It allows read only and when when the file opens i still can edit the cells without password protection.
e. I also need to know how to share the sheet and use command to protect and share workbook with tracking changes.
Need assistance and guidance please....
