I have an excel spread sheet (actually several sheets) that contain hyperlinks to other files on my network. For some unknown reason the hyperlinks are lost (as in simply go away) or are broken (the system can no longer find the file to which the link is pointing) every time I save the sheet. This is a new installation of Office 2007 on a new Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) workstation. The spread sheet was originally an “.xls”, but has been saved as an “.xlsx”. The links point to files both on my workstation and on my network. The sheets are saved both locally (on my workstation) and on the network (an SBS2003 domain). Their does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason for the failure. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix the problem.
If this provides a clue to anyone, it is noteworthy that hyperlinks to email addresses (mailto:user@domain.com) do not seem to fail.
