Excel 2010 data connection files (odc) on a network folder

I need to connect to external data sources from Excel.
I have .odc files with the connection information.
I want to place these files on a network folder so everybody can use them.
How can I have these files on my network folder listed under "Network Connections"
when I open the "Existing Connections" in Excel 2010?
I found this link
saying
  • Connection files on the network

This list can be created from the following:

  • A set of folders on your local network, the location of which can be deployed across the network as part of the deployment of Microsoft Office group policies.
  • An Excel Services Data Connection Library (DCL) on a SharePoint Foundation site. For more information about DCLs, see the section Publishing to Excel Services securely.
I do not want the SharePoint solution (as far as I know it only works with SharePoint Enterprise Server).
I tried to configure my network folder with a group policy, but there is no option in the group templates to do this.
(at least I did not find this option)
This would be an extremely useful connection deployment in our environment.
