I use webDAV for a week as a virtual file server. However, I'm not a versed user, which comes up with the following problem with Excel (as only one Office program, the other ones work fine). If I open an Excel file in webDAV directory, it appears twice after saving: once as a "normal" file (i.e. "file.xlsx") and the other one without any content, but with cryptic characters like "~$file.xlsx".
Presumably these are the shadow copies, always created by Excel on the client and normally (i.e. if the relevant file is also located on the client) disappearing after closing. In this case, however, because the file by itself is elsewhere, Excel is probably confused and create those "orphans", which you even can not delete. I've already disabled the Auto Recovery from Excel, but it didn't help.
Does anybody have an idea?
