In Excel, I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. I just upgraded to a new laptop and, with it, Excel 2013.
I noticed that the animations and so on in Excel 2013 were slowing me down, so I disabled hardware accelleration and used the windows accessibility options to disable animations. However, there remains one feature of Excel that is incredibly slow. If you select a cell and press the left alt key, it takes several sections for Excel to populate all of the hotkey options. For instance, if you press Alt, then press H, you'll see that it takes about a second or two while it fills in all the tooltips.
For reference, this is probably not a problem with my laptop not being fast enough. I am using a 4th gen Core i7, 8GB RAM, and a dedicated graphics card with updated drivers. The laptop is brand new.
This was not a problem in Excel 2010. Is this just a bug in 2013? Is there any hope of this being fixed?
And is there any hope of Microsoft doing something about Excel requiring all of these manual tweaks to be usable?
