Calculating Dates

I am trying to calculate a New Service Date for employees who have "split time".

For example:  Employee is hired on January 1, 2007 and is retiring January 1, 2015.  This is continuous service.  BUT, this employee also had casual time from May 1, 2003 to September 15, 2003;  May 1, 2004 to September 15, 2004; and May 1, 2005 to September 15, 2005.  I need to calculate a new service date that includes the employee's casual time.

The continuous service would result in 8 years.  Adding the time from 2003, 2004 and 2005 would add 13.5 months to his service time.  I need to be able to take away the 13.5 months from the January 1, 2007 date in order to get the new service date.

I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet that I have set up if you need to see what I need to enter.

Hope you can help :)

Thx!  Ann LeBlanc
