Excel 2010 ribbon menu stops working, locks up, doesn't respond although Excel continues to run normally, can edit data etc

Tried the following Steps Does not help

Press "Windows" + "R" keys and type "regedit"

Open: HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Office, 14.0, and right click the Excel hive and rename it to Excel.old.
