We have a user (or two) whose *pre-existing* Excel (and Excel files only) are not syncing changes between computers using folder redirection. If we create a new Excel file it would save and sync OK, and if we edit any other existing files such as Word it would sync OK, but for some reason existing xls do not sync. The user would make a change, save the file, go to another computer on the domain, log in, and the file would not show that changes have been made. If they go back to the first computer, the settings are saved there.. just not propegating to the network. If I (the admin) log on to the user's share and edit a document with my account, it syncs.
Very peculiar issue. Specific to user's account, and existing xls only, regardless of computer used.
I have tried changing the owner on the folder with no success (interestingly it would allow to change the owner on all files except those few XLS files we attempted to modify/sync)
I also tried renaming the local profile on the PCs so that a new profile is created upon login and that did not help either.
Other users whose files are hosted on the same server do not appear have this issue as I've asked a few others to try to replicate this scenario and theirs sync OK.
Ideas?
Details: The computers are running Windows 7 and XP, and a mix Office 2010 and 2003. I've tried logging the user on only Win 7 and 2010 machines to eliminate XP and 2003 and the issue remains. The file server is running Server 2003
