MAX of Data in a table

I have a table of Data

A     B

A-1  50

A-1  40

A-1  30

B-1  20

B-1  30

I need to find the Max in column be for each value in column A

           Max        Average

A-1        ?

B-1        ?

I'm using AverageIF to calculate the Average - I could use help with calculating the Max
