Multiple Conditional Formatting of non numerical entries

Is there an easier way to have multiple formatting of individual cells

I have a table set up for a weekly roster & 3 members (initials only) are assigned to each week.

I presently manually format each member so that the cell & text is coloured. (different colour combination for each member)

Is it possible to have this formatting done automatically. I would have upwards of 20+ members & therefore 20+ colour combinations.

I have been playing around with "IF" & "AND" formulas & formatting but wondering if there was an easier way than doing 20+ individual formatting strings.

This is not a critical application but rather a quick visual representation & helps with doubling up some members being on consecutive rosters
