I have a file with (1) sheet that I want specific users (Admin) to have full access to do anything and everyone else to only be able to edit and format a specific range. The first thing I did was unlock all cells, then I re-locked the range that I only want the Admin users to be able to edit. Next, I defined 2 ranges using "Allow Users to Edit Ranges".
Range1 (Admin) has assigned domain users who can edit without a password (there is a password assigned to the range, but I don't want the Admin users to have to type it in everytime, only prompt other users if they try to edit something in this range)
Range2 (Everyone) has the 'Everyone' domain group assigned to it and there is no password assigned to this range.
When I click Protect Worksheet I get the popup to set an unprotect password, which I did, and I have the option to select options for "Allow all users of this worksheet to:" (I selected everything).
Now, to test it, I have my domain username listed with the Admin range and I have another PC using a local login to test if I can edit the Admin range. Opening the file on the 'local' PC prompts me to enter a password if I try to change a value in the Admin range, like it should. But it allows me to "format" (highlight and change font colors) without prompting me to entering a password. I want the users listed in the Admin range to be able to do anything they want but I want to prevent "everyone" else from changing values or format cells in Range1 (Admin), but allow "everyone" to edit or format cells in Range2 (Everyone).
It's working except for it's allowing anyone to "format" cells in the Admin range. I'm not sure what I'm missing so I hope someone can tell me what I'm missing.
Thanks in advance,
