Hi All,
I've tried to find a place to create a bug report but I couldn't find a way to do this on the Microsoft connect. For a lay person that doesn't have a enterprise license, it is unclear where I should go for this. At any rate, I figured I'd post it here.
Today I was working on building some documents to calculate a large list of uncertainties from 10 to 10 and wanted to understand how the uncertainties changed over a range at an increment of .1. To start this, I entered in the first three cell values of 10, 9.9, and 9.8 and used the function in excel to drag out until -10. After reviewing the data, zero turned into 4.08562073062058E-14. After looking into this, I found that the error was noticeable to the user after 8.6 which was 8.60000000001.
After looking into this, the error gets worse if you choose a step of .01 instead of .1 so zero turns into 2.0961010704923E-13. While
I'm using Excel 2007 which isn't the latest and I have tested this in 2010 since the company I work at hasn't made the switch yet. I'm guessing there won't be a fix for a version that is 2 versions behind the latest version but it would be good to make sure that this doesn't occur. I would add the excel file up but I don't see an option to.
Thanks
