Excel PowerPivots: Connection string issues; Can't save Edit Table Properties

Excel Version:  2010 Pro; PowerPivots

Problem:  I'm getting the following error message when attempting to "Save" edits to table query in Edit Table Properties in the PowerPivot window.  I get the same error even if I don't change anything in the query.

"OLE DB or ODBC error: Login failed for user 'robertsutor'.; 28000.
A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of 'removed for security purposes, Name of 'SqlServer APPSVR1 Viewpoint'.
An error occurred while the partition, with the ID of 'Query_
'removed for security purposes', Name of 'Query' was being processed.
The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed."

Facts:

  1. The query data can be refreshed successfully.
  2. The Data Connection used tested "Successful'
  3. The Query used successfully validates.
  4. I setup a new connection that used the same query and I can save the query, however, if I try to modify the new query and save the modifications, I get the same error.

I have Googled this and read several articles, none of which led me to a solution.  I'm hoping to avoid having to recreate all my existing reports to get them moved over from the old query (which I can't modify) to the new query.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Bob Sutor
