Excel delayed launch on Virtual Desktop?

Excel has been starting slow from our Virtual Desktops (XenDesktop), which is even more exaggerated when launching from a SharePoint document library.

I can double click a file on a mapped network drive and it takes 15-20sec for the Excel splash screen to be displayed (Word opens normally). Even if you try to launce the file form the VMs local drive (C:) same delay. Once Excel is running the next file opens quickly, size of the file doesn't seem to matter, even small files open with the delay.

To me it seems more like the computer delay to even start the launch of Excel, once opened Excel runs normally. If I try this same files/mappings from my physical computer Excel opens normally.

From our SharePoint Foundation 2010 server the affects are similar, a bit longer on the delay but all MS Office documents open with 20-30sec delay. PDFs and other file types open instantly. If I open the document library via "Open in Explorer" the same document opens normally but Excel is still slow.

I have tried disabling Antivirus on both the server and workstations but that has no effect.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
