EXCEL 2013 VLOOKUP FILE NAME ERROR

Hi

I have been working with EXCEL within my job for 2 years now and this is a compeltely new issue to me, I have recently had my work PC upgraded to windows 7 and EXCEL 2013 which is when this issue began.

When I attempt to run a VLookup against a file, instead of linking the correct file I am presented with an error whereby EXCEL is changing/shortening the file name resulting in the lookup not working because the file does not exists (example below)

  • VLOOKUP Returns: =VLOOKUP(A2,'[SCRAP RATE Rolling 12 Months (in...,20,0)
  • VLOOKUP Should return: =VLOOKUP(A2,'[SCRAP RATE Rolling 12 Months (in AA10).xlsx],20,0)

it is not compelting the file name and I cannot find any information or guidance online to suggest what is casuing this to happen, this also does not occur on every file I look at just the majority and again I can see no differnce between these files (all are .xlsx etc)

if anyone can shed any light or a solution I would be very greatful or if you require further information please let me know.

Thanks

Si
