How to unprotect a sheet in 2010 from a shared workbook created in 2007?

I have a workbook of 6 sheets that I created using Excel 2007. Each sheet has protection such that only some cells can be changed. (There was no password on the protection).

Previously, each month, I would unshare, unprotect and update the workbook ready for the new sales month. I would then protect the sheets and share it on the network for other staff to use.

This is my first mont of updating since getting Excel 2010 and I have been able to unshare the workbook but I cannot unprotect the sheets to allow editing. On the Review Tab and Changes box, the Unprotect Sheet option is greyed out and nothing I do will change that.

I even went back to my old PC with Excel 2007 but cannot change it there either. Can anyone help?

My PC is running Windows 7 Pro and Office Home & Business 2010

Jo
