Excel 2010 Saves Files Very Slowly to Network Share

This issue occurs at two sites; both have SBS 2011, Windows 7 64-Bit, and Excel 2010. The issue does not occur on systems running Windows XP with Excel 2010 at the same sites - it is specifc to the combination of SBS 2011/Win7/Excel 2010 accessing files stored in shares on the SBS 2011 server.  Opening files is slow, but saving them takes forever.  A dialog box pops up that says "Saving as:\\server\share\doc.xlsx" even though the doument was opend from and saved to a mapped drive, U:\share\doc.xlsx I have worked through the thread here which describes my issue exactly, but the problem has not been resolved. The hotfix suggested is not applicable to our machines and both servers and Win7 are already SP 1.

2. Simple file share, full access (read, modify, delete) for the users.

 3. All WIn 7 clients with Excel 2010.

 4. It doesn't occur with notepad files or any other MS Office files such as Word.

 5. It occurs if I create a new Excel file; not just on old ones.

 6.  Starting in safe mode makes no difference.

 7.  Neither of those patches is installed.

 8.  This issue has apparently been occurring for a few months, but the clients didn't mention it until now.

 9. Opening the file takes several seconds (a noticeable but liveable lag), closing\saving the file can take more than a minute.

10.  The issue does not occur in Excel 2007, no clients at either site have have office 2003.

I have verified that the network connection is not being dropped. This issue is occuring at two sites, and does not occur on the Windows XP machines at these sites, only the Windows 7 machines with Office 2010 installed. If it were a network issue users with XP would be experiencing the same issue.
