ODBC connection from Excel - authentication question

We have several excel files pointing to same database with a single uid/pwd combination. Excel uses a system DSN and the uid/pwd is spread across multiple excel files. The uid/pwd combination did not change for a long time, so there were no issues.  But, due to new security policy in place, the password of the account will need to change every x days. But, updating all the files every 90 days will be herculean task. We are looking for a solution where the connect string ( specifically uid/pwd combination ) is read from a text file and everything else can be in the excel file itself

Now, we tried moving to file DSN, but it reads the file dsn only the first time and ignores any further change to the dsn file ( until we remove the connection and recreate it). Thought of using odc file, but, the situation is that each excel file has a different command text (SQL statement). S odc files were not of much help

any other strategy? data Source is oracle server
