Hi,
I have an excel file that is access-protected by a password.
I don't remember the password that I used before.
Is there a way to remove or recover the password?
Where does the file keeps the password registry?
Thanks,
Pedro
I have an spreadsheet which is password protected. Not an issue because I know the password. The issue is, when I want to send it to another person, I don't need the spreadsheet/workbook protected because the receipient will need to alter it for their use and this is being sent to many users. W/ Excel 2003 the ability to remove the password protection feature was easy, Tools>Options>Remove Protection but I cannot find that w/ Excel 2010. I have gone to File>Info and File>Options but nothing allows me to "remove" the password.
Ideas?
Hi all

Version: Excel 2010 PowerPivots
Problem: I am using a SQL table as a data source used by PowerPivots. The PowerPivots data table created in PowerPivots Window is referenced by a pivot table. I want to remove an out-dated field in the SQL table. This is the process I am following, that is not working, to remove the field:
1) I remove the field from the pivot table and; then
2) I remove the field from the SQL table;
3) I refresh the related PowerPivots window data table (to the SQL source) which gives me an Error since a field in the original query is no longer present;
4) No worries, in the PowerPivot Window I go into Table Design and update the model and refresh;
5) I refresh the related Pivot Table.
The issue is after refreshing the PivotTable, all the previous fields selected for the pivot table are now gone, requiring me to completely rebuild the pivot table from scratch.
I know I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me what it is?
Thanks,
Bob Sutor
We are having an issue with one of our Server 2012 R2 terminal server collections.
Everything is working fine except for the mentioned error above. This error occurs when double clicking an excel document. You then get the error message and excel starts without opening the document. If you double click the document again it opens. The same thing happens naturally if one were to open excel first then the document.
Basically we have tested most if not all things that have been discussed about this issue in other forum posts.
Appreciate any assistance I can get on this matter.
Have a problem where a V lookup is working correctly in some cells but not in others. Example of the code is.
Thanks in advance
I'm trying to do a vlookup from one sheet to the next and I defined the cell already. I entered the formula
=vlookup(a2,nameofcelldefined,column,false)
and this brings up #NA. now I tried using the table under the formula tab so I can just type in what I need and it makes the formula for me. when I do that I get a #VALUE error Table_array. how do I fix this?

I have a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 that was pulling in data via an RTD link into excel without problems until a couple of days ago. The same system works perfectly with XP and Excel 2010. I reinstalled the application (Prophet X) that is the source of the data and tried the online repair for Office 2013 with no success. I have confirmed all of the Excel settings are the same on the XP and Windows 8.1 systems. Can you help with ideas on what I should try next?
Thanks
Excel PowerPivots Version: PowerPivots for Excel 2010
Problem: I have a table in PowerPivot windows using a SQL Query for a data source. The query in question requires about 3 minutes to regenerate. When I open Edit Table Properties for this data source the query times out and I get an error (see below): "
Failed to retrieve data from udvTrainJobReportsData. Reason: Query timeout expired"
This seems to happen anytime I use a query that takes longer than a couple of minutes to regenerate. Anyone have an idea on how to get around this. Is there a timeout setting somewhere in PowerPivots that can be increased?

if I open Excel macros in excel 2010, it comes a Error message. Then it should go ahead with Press OK . that Error is there as per below.
"Compile Error in Hidden Module:A_EEMain"
Please give any solution.
This may be just a basic problem, but I can't figure it out. I am working on creating a bar column chart and for some reason the labels on the x-axis repeat (same label shows on top of each other). Below is a depiction of what I mean as an example. The numbers run along the y-axis are fine but the labels on the x-axis repeat.

It happens on several charts I am creating and I can't figure out how to only have the label show up once. Could it be an error in the table I am getting the data from?
I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I am trying to make a comparison of different arrays.
I want to compare customer and supplier specifications. The supplier specification should always be more narrow than the customer specification. And I would like to be able to put text or let the cell blank in the customer specification.
To make it as clear as possible I have taken a very simple system where I compare 2 minimum specification ( I have the same code for the maximum:
minimum specification of supplier | minimum specification of customer | sum | array | one-by-one |
1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
2 | 4 | 0 | 1 |
under sum, I have put the followings so that I get the number of unconformities: {=SUM(IF(B2:B3>A2:A3;IF(AND(ISNUMBER(B2:B3)=TRUE;B2:B3<>"");1;0);0))}
under array, I have simplified a bit this code to understand what why it did not say one (2<4 so result should be 1): {=IF(B2:B3>A2:A3;IF(AND(ISNUMBER(B2:B3)=TRUE;B2:B3<>"");1;0);0)}
under one-by-one I have put the same system without arrays to better check the problem: =IF(B2>A2;IF(AND(ISNUMBER(B2)=TRUE;B2<>"");1;0);0)
and the same for the next line for A3/B3 (and here I get indeed 1): =IF(B3>A3;IF(AND(ISNUMBER(B3)=TRUE;B3<>"");1;0);0)
My problem is that I do not get the same by working with arrays and without, how should I proceed?! I suppose I misunderstood how to use them...
If it would not be possible to do it this way, can anyone help me about my first problem?!
I have a large amount of data to compare, I need to get the following results for each line of the array separately:
0 if value in B column is a text
0 if value in B column is blank
0 if value in B column is <= value in A column
1 if value in B column is > value in B column
Thanks for your help,

Hi...
Struggling.
I'm working with chefs to create a log of events during dinner service. i.e. When the starter goes out a box is ticked and the time now() is logged. However, when the box for the main course is ticked the now() time value for the starter becomes the same as the time for the main course.
Basically, I want each now() event to remain static and not to update. There are 100 now events on the sheet and they must all remain individual value that will never be updated by anything else that happens on the sheet.
Is it doable?
Thanks. G
I, like many other users am having slowness when saving and opening excel and word docs. I have a W7 x64 machine and the server is a 2008 R2 x64 machine. I've tried to apply the hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981711 but when I try to install it, it says "The update is not applicable to your computer".
Any ideas on what to do? I made sure it was downloading the x64 version of the patch as well.
Thanks in advance.
Jimmy
